Kolkata: Since the BJP formed the government in the state, discussions about new political alignments have been rife. Against this backdrop, a call has been made to unite forces against the BJP. However, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has declined the offer outright.
This development comes as Mamata Banerjee’s party attempts to build a coalition against the current ruling party. The response from the CPM was conveyed through a letter, in which the party firmly refused to join the alliance.
In a statement, CPM leader Mohammed Salim expressed strong resistance to the proposal. He emphasized that their party continues to stand independently and will not collaborate with parties they ideologically oppose.
The dynamics of political collaborations have gained attention as opposing the BJP becomes a unifying agenda for several parties. However, the CPM’s decision indicates a complex landscape where ideological differences remain significant barriers to alliance formations.
